Shooting school helping soldiers get better

There is not much in life better than a dead tango when you are in combat. Our soldiers are trained very well in how to kill them before they kill us, but that training is sometimes dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. Sometimes the time is not always available to get into more advanced shooting techniques and styles.

Watch this great video from the NRA on Gunsite Academy in Arizona and how once a year they invite military members out to take part in their advanced shooting courses free of charge. In my opinion, it is Gunsite’s way of making sure more of our guys come home and more of the Tangos don’t.

Ranger Up trying to help Veterans with Employment

My good friend Nick Palmisciano over at Rangerup.com has published the first of four videos giving advice and guidance for veterans looking for employment. Nick is a former US Army Ranger and now CEO of Ranger Up so he is more than qualified to give such advice.

In this first introductory video listen to Nick explain why he is doing this and how he compares looking for a job to a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich. I must say his comparison is pretty ingenious and really breaks it down to be simply understood.

Jon Stewart’s lack of PT helps the troops

Picked this up on militarytimes.com blog outside the wire. I watched this episode last night as I DVR every Jon Stewart and Colbert show and try to keep up with them.

Even though he is a self-admitted liberal, Jon Stewart is a big troop supporter having went over to the sandbox himself at least once that I know of and has hosted the last two Remind.org For The Troops fundraising comedy events.

This time it is funny to see his inability to stay in shape help the troops.

BTW this does have some foul language and may not be safe for work or around little kids.

Following in the footsteps

I have to give a H/T and thank US Army Europe for sending me a tweet and letting me know about this video. I am also honored that they took the time to send this to me to see. Joseph Brennan is a soldier who was motivated by this cousin, Josh Brennan. Josh died in a famous battle, but his name is not that widely recognized.

So Joseph knows and understands the terrible possibilities of serving in combat. However that did not stop him from following in Josh’s footsteps.
