The Bouhammer Gear Store is now being fully hosted at Vision Strike Wear’s website. I have been working with the guys at VSW to move all the products over to their site completely. This will hopefully make for less clicks on your part to get to the great looking items and place your order today. So you can click the Bouhammer Gear Store page link at the top of the blog page, or simply go to www.vision-strike-wear.com/bouhammer.html and check out what is there now. But keep checking back as we will be adding the new items soon. To include the new embroidered logo for the hats and polo-style shirts.
I wanted to take just a moment and wish all the readers of this blog a very Happy Easter. I have been away on Spring Break all week and there is just a few days left until the 2011 Milblog Conference, so I will try to catch up on some writing this week.
Yes that is correct, you can now get the Bouhammer.com blog feed to download to your Kindle device or software for less than $1 a month. That was not a mis-print, it is only $0.99 a month to have the feed go automatically to your Kindle and read the blog on the go.
I realize some people are very busy and they don’t always have time to sit in front of a computer to read blogs, etc. Last year I made the Bouhammer.com blog mobile-friendly by making a “lite” version of the site for people that access it via mobile phones, tablets, etc. Now by providing a Kindle subscription service I am hoping it gives readers and fans of the site just one more option to read the site on the go.
I like to give bouhammer.com a facelift every once in a while and I really try to do that at the start of each year. 2011 is on us now and in my opinion Afghanistan will be one of the biggest news stories this year. So that makes it all the more important that this blog have a fresh and appealing look. I am always on the lookout for new themes and looks for the blog so it is not only something new but also hopefully easier on the eyes. I really like this new look and think it is easier to read. I hope you will agree.
In addition to this new change, I have another one coming in a few days. Stay tuned to twitter.com/bouhammer or facebook.com/bouhammer to get the early insider information.
We here at Bouhammer, working with Vision Strike Wear and Heroes Fallen Studios now have an updated design of the “You know your and ETT/PMT when…” T-shirt design available for sale.
We came out with this design a few months ago but the actual printed version needed a few tweaks I felt, so we went back and made some changes to have it look better on shirts.
You Know You’re An ETT/PMT When..
1. You find yourself becoming the commo repairman, mechanic, armorer, carpenter, medic, and entertainer because you are too far out for support.
2. You start stripping your gear down to “lighten the load”.
3. You look to your left and right in a firefight and see more Afghans than Americans fighting with you.
4. Right before you begin a mission you aren’t surprised that your ANA/ANP don’t have food, water, or fuel in their vehicles.
5. You realize the ANA/ANP can always fit one more soldier in the back of a Ford Ranger.
6. You miss your time by 30 minutes and you think “That’s Pretty Good”.
7. You use INSH’ALLAH to your Chain of Command when something bad happens.
8. You walk into a Green Bean Coffee and they don;t know your order automatically.
9. You consider close air support and medevacs a privilege, not a requirement.
10. Nobody has ever heard of the Forward Operating Base you’re from.
11. You know the name of the local Taliban Commander but not the guy who’s supposed to send you supplies.
12. You consider a ball cap and a shemagh a normal part of your uniform.
As with all items in the store, The items from the store will have all Bouhammer.com proceeds donated to the following charities in equal amounts:
I have said over the last few days that even though Team ARMY was leading by long-shot in the Valour-IT fundraiser, we needed to keep our eye over our shoulder on Team MARINE.
Now I am not sure how they did it or who they pulled out of the woodwork to donate for them, but I think Team MARINE has set a record in the amount of money raised in one day.
Totals raised by midnight of Nov. 3rd, 2011
Totals raised by midnight of Nov 4th, 2011.
As you can see, Team MARINE essentially doubled the amount donated in their Team’s name in one day from what they had raised since the start of this friendly competition on Oct. 28th.
Now don’t get me wrong, I am proud of them and glad to see so many generous people open their wallets for Valour-IT, but come on people TEAM MARINE!!!
Also, the boys over at Ranger UP are running a special this weekend.
20% of all sales this weekend at Ranger Up will go to the Soldiers Angels Team Army fund to help wounded warriors heal and reconnect with the rest of the world. The incentive starts Saturday, November 6th (0:01AM EST) and continues through Sunday the 7th (11:59PM EST). On Tuesday, Ranger Up will donate the 20% of all items sold this weekend to Valour-IT!
NOTE- I trust Marines and like them. Many of my good friends are/were Marines to include great guys like ‘Taco’ Bell, Marcus Penn and Mike Scotti. They are like the brother that you love to hate.
I have put it out there before, but let me do it again. If you are an Afghan Vet, family member of an Afghan Vet, or someone currently serving in Afghanistan as a servicemember, DA Civilian or Contractor and you have something you would like to talk about then let me know. I am always open to guest bloggers and will gladly work with you to put up a guest posting from you here on Bouhammer.com.
