You know, I don't think we're actually dumber -- we're just more partisan and more deeply entrenched in this "us vs. them" thinking that pervades politics today. IMO, the red vs. blue debate in this country is what has gotten dumber, not so much the people. Cognitive dissonance. If it's easier to believe in Santa Claus (or Oil in Afghanistan) then it is to believe that GWB got one right, or that sometimes wars are needed . . . wheeee, down the fairy trail we go.
