To a large extent, this war is being fought for the women and girls who have been bullied into submission for decades. Education increases options for women. As Greg Mortenson points out, unless girls are educated, there's no hope for their country. It's an uphill climb, but a necessary one. The longer it stands still, the faster it falls behind. Women have no way to repel their abusers without individual personal power (arms, which I as an American woman believe all women should vigorously defend the right to bear). So, they must depend on the kindness of strangers. It would be best if the intercessors were their own men, but absent that, anyone who can will do. In our efforts to not offend the men, we offend humanity. Now, if Amnesty International, U.N., N.O.W. and all the other organizations would stop whining about what Our Troops do, represent, accomplish, achieve, advance, promote, just because they have a weapon in their hands while doing so, they might actually get a chance to collaborate with them. Huh, and then effectuate the actual salvation of women and girls rather than just wishing it. Until we stop the continuing, into the 21st century, subjugation, slavery and wholesale discount of a human with the XX chromosome, I cannot get all that worked up about whatever man centered cause.
