Yes it was 22 years ago today that I raised my hand at the Memphis MEPS station and swore to defend this nation against all enemies foreign and domestic. Not long after swearing my oath I rode a bus to the Memphis airport and flew to Fort Benning, GA and started a life changing career. Today marks my 22nd year in the Army, and probably my last anniversary.
I am planning on retiring this year and moving on with other things in my life. I have done my time, been all over this world, jumped out of a lot of aircraft, been to two wars and deployed multiple times to support communities in wildfires, protect the citizens of NYC and Long Island, and support the Secret Service during the Republican National Convention.
It has been an awesome 22 years and the time and the experiences have shaped me as a person, as a father and as a leader in both my military and civilian lives.
So today is the day, 22 years serving this country.

Congratulations!!! I will never forget that day when we dropped you off at the hotel in Memphis. It tore my heart out to have to let you go but here 22 years later; we are very, very proud of you for all you have done for our country. You and your family have sacrificed a LOT and we certainly understand and appreciate it.
