H/T to my friend Susan Keating for writing about this and pointing this out. Take a look at susankatzkeating.blogspot.com/2009/02/american-media-again-ignores.html and see the pic of the Commander in Chief of the US Military saluting with the wrong hand and read about our cousins across the pond slamming him for breaking protocol. Jeezuz, even Bill Clinton never screwed that up.

A caveat before I comment: I am a vet, a republican, my son served in Iraq and I am no particular fan of Obama or the MSM. That said, I have to say that before we all jump on the bandwagon ripping the media for not ripping enough on Obama, perhaps we might remember what that accomplished for the nation while President Bush was in charge. Do we WANT Obama to fail?
I am troubled that the Commander in Chief apparently has no prior connection to the military. I don’t like the fact that every time the democrats are in charge they decimate the military. But the fact that he isn’t intimately acquainted with military protocol doesn’t necessarily lead to the conclusion he doesn’t care about the military. I don’t know correct protocol in a courtroom but that doesn’t mean I don’t care about justice.
I don’t think that shaking that young Marine’s hand was meant to dis the Marine. If we had been able to hear what he said, he was probably saying something gracious. Is that such a bad thing? A wing commander once met me in his front yard in his bathrobe and pajamas as I was returning his car at midnight after cleaning it. He shook my hand and told me thanks for the good job I was doing. I nearly fainted. But I’ve never forgotten him.
The left-handed salute may not be quite what we think either. Obama is left handed. I am too. After receiving a commendation medal and going for the simultaneous shake/salute, I mistakenly saluted my commander with my left hand. The funny part was, he was a lefty too and saluted me back with HIS left hand. For years I had to think for a split second before saluting.
My point is, we are facing horrendous problems. Like it or not, Obama is our man for the next four years. Let’s at least give the guy the chance to get his feet on the ground. Our nation needs every bit of focus and talent and energy we’ve got to get ourselves out of this mess we are in.
Thanks for all your great work.
