The Taliban showed the world that they can still move about the country and plan complex, coordinated attacks. This is the largest urban attack since the Khandahar prison break last summer. The Taliban has brought it up a notch, but not only attacking government buildings, but doing it in the heart of the capital.

Hey guess what America? In January of 2007 I said that 2007 would be the worst year in violence since 2001.
In February of 2008 I made the same statement about the year 2008.
It is February of 2009, and I can guarantee you that this year will outdo all the previous ones. How can I guarantee this? Because one of two things are going to happen. Either we are about to surge in 30,000 troops who will go into areas where we really have never had coalition forces in force and this will result in lots of TICs, or Obama will lose his spine and not listen to his military leadership and not allow the surge to happen. This will cause the Taliban to be inspired and free to move about the country and continue these type of brazen and media-grabbing attacks.

Since the polls closed on election day, I have been praying that Pres. Obama would listen to Gen. Petraeus and all our Military Commanders. This latest attack, as you know, not only shows that the Taliban is not going to merely go quietly into the night………which, I fear, is what the new Administration believes.

Despite McKiernan, Karzai, and even Obama’s own campaign promises, now he won’t decide about Afghanistan nor Human Rights. He’s beginning to look like the Great Indecider.
Yes, it’s going to be a rough year in Afghanistan and a rough two years in the US. We simply must have a better Congress in 2010.
